How to Stay Fit and Healthy When You Are Freelancer

Fitness can be challenging when you’re self-employed. When I work from home almost every day, I tend to forget that I am healthy. You can get sucked into the zone, spend hours in front of your computer, and completely forget about proper diet and exercise. Then when it’s finally outside of business hours, it goes into hibernation and it’s very attractive to sit on the couch and watch TV.

One important thing for freelancers to keep in mind is that staying healthy means staying in the game. When you are sick, you cannot work, and you are not paid. It is a defeat situation where you don’t want to find yourself.

Have a plan. If you want to be the perfect freelancer, you need to understand what you want to do. Do you plan your meals and have time to cook, or do you need to have time to eat out? If you work in a coffee shop or co-working space, we recommend checking into a gym or yoga studio near those locations. The good news is that the freelancer gives you the freedom to do it, so you can do just about anything you want.

Make time. One of the best things about freelancers is that you have total control over your schedule. You can understand when you can exercise and take a break for lunch, lunch, and a midnight snack. If you stay up late and do your best work at night, you can certainly find a pocket for daytime hours for training sessions. If you like to exercise early in the morning, you can schedule it before you start working.

Be wise. When you have a lot of freedom, you can easily let go. You can drink as many sodas and coffee as you like and eat as many chocolate bars and chips as you like. You can grow plants on the couch all day and stay up all night. You can work, work, work, and eat late or quit altogether. please do not do it! Vow to be safe and sound, find a balance between work and personal time, and take care of yourself.

Stay motivated. It’s hard enough getting away from your computer. You may need to be motivated to exercise every day and strive to eat at the right time. If you don’t like your training, or if you have trouble motivating yourself to be active, you may wonder if you just move for a few minutes at regular intervals throughout the day. Take a walk around the neighborhood or fly around the garden for a bit. Every activity is useful.

Short breaks can also bring you many benefits. Occasional stops allow your eyes, fingers, and brain to rest. You will return to work with fresh eyes and new energy. Also, if you are having a hard time following a balanced diet, try to find your favorite recipe (or menu item). Buy your favorite fruits and keep your favorite salad dressings and vegetable sauces in stock. If you like green smoothies and granola bowls, give it a try. Healthy food is delicious, and if you have delicious food that you’re craving, you won’t skip a meal and turn to garbage.

It can be especially difficult when you are very busy. If you’re overwhelmed by project deadlines and feel like you can’t have the will to stick with your exercise routine, tell yourself that if you’re unhealthy, you’ll have a hard time getting all the work done.

Freelance and fitness don’t seem to be in harmony, but they are. Being self-employed gives you the flexibility to do whatever you want. Take advantage of it and become the best freelancer you can!
